Pedra Branca University City was designed to meet all your needs and, with your company, it couldn’t be any different. For this reason, the TecnoPark was developed. 204 lots aimed at the installation of non-pollutant companies that adhere to a philosophy of harmonizing economical and social development with respect for the environment. The complete infrastructure offered to the buildings results in practicality and savings in costs in terms of construction and maintenance. The area currently includes 32 non-pollutant small and midsized industries, which generate hundreds of jobs and guarantee the formation of one of the largest and most diverse industrial parks in the region. With the first stage of the development already sold out, the TecnoPark lots were handed over with electricity, water, lights, sewage infrastructure, pluvial drainage, paved roadways, an area for leisure and environmental quality.

In 2004, the Unisul campus of Pedra Branca University City inaugurated its Academic Shopping Mall, where the administrative sectors and course coordination offices are installed. It also houses an ample food court with restaurants, cafés and snack bars, in addition to bank branches, drugstores, book stores, beauty salons, a stationary store, a film and video rental, a utility store and a range of other services, all open to the community on a daily basis.

Created in 2003 by a group of local business executives, and in full operation, the Pedra Branca Business Center currently includes stores, restaurants, a dental clinic and a number of business offices. Furthermore, the Business Center also plays host to Unisul Virtual (distance learning) and Unisul Gastronomy, in addition to the Pedra Branca Sales Office (+55 48 3203 1110). With the main focus being the provision of services and the installation of offices, and with a range of commercial stores suitably distributed throughout its corridors and floors, the Pedra Branca Business Center offers a mix of activities, both diverse and dynamic at the same time. Pedra Branca University City will be the site of the new Federal Center of Technological Education of Santa Catarina (CEFET/SC). This campus will include a unique project in Brazil and Latin America: bilingual education, both in spoken classes and sign language. The first technical and higher education courses will be in the area of website production, multimedia and pedagogy. Two lato sensu graduate courses are also planned: education of the hearing impaired as well as translation and interpretation. The new campus will cater to 800 onsite students and 1,200 distance learners, in addition to carrying our research in the area of education for the hearing impaired.

Since 2003, Pedra Branca University City has had its own group of scouts: the Pedra Branca Scouts Group, in which adventure and discovery techniques are practiced, along with instruction in values. In order to achieve these objectives, activities are developed in groups and troops, in which everyone works and learns to command and be commanded. There are currently 70 residents (including children, teenagers and adults) from Pedra Branca and surrounding neighborhoods that are part of the group, gathering on a weekly basis in a sheltered area provided by the Residents’ Association (AMO). There are few group activities that offer so many benefits in terms of the formation and development of human beings as those offered by Scouting, and that is why Pedra Branca participates in and supports this movement.

With one of its five units based in Pedra Branca University City, Colégio Visão (Vision School) offers the community nursery school groups, and primary and high school education with preparative studies for university entrance exams in the final year, thereby providing it students with a learning environment that favors the construction of expertise in a creative and enjoyable manner. With air-conditioned classrooms, a library, leisure area, wooded areas, laboratories and multiuse classrooms with audiovisual resources for group dynamics, the unit has ideal conditions for offering students a complete education. Respect for the knowledge of children, appreciation of their individuality, and partnership and integration between parents and the school are the primordial pillars of Colégio Visão.

Being one of the largest universities in the State, Unisul – University of the South of Santa Catarina, Pedra Branca campus currently caters to around 10,000 students through undergraduate and graduate programs. The campus includes a huge aquatic sports complex, aimed at the formation of Olympic athletes, and also caters to students, residents, athletes and coaches from all over the country. More than a place of learning and knowledge, Unisul Pedra Branca has passed over the borders of the campus and develops projects that involve the entire community. It impossible of thinking about practicing sports in Pedra Branca without thinking about a healthy coexistence with nature. The parks and squares, in addition to serving as places for contemplation, pastimes and coexistence, are idea for practicing sports out in the open air. The region is perfect for outdoor sporting activities, offering trails, walks, climbing, paragliding and hang gliding. In addition to hosting practitioners of extreme sports like rope course, rappelling and rock climbing, the Parque do Maciço da Pedra Branca (Pedra Branca Massif Park), a project by the Municipal City Hall of Palhoça, will include facilities and equipment for those who want nothing more than to contemplate nature and observe the exuberant fauna and flora of the native Atlantic Forest reserve.

There are many options for leisure, but, without doubt, sport is the most healthy leisure activity in existence. Therefore, the Pedra Branca Residents’ Association (AMO) and Unisul established and partnership called the AMO-Unisul Project, the objective of which is to share the university’s entire multisport complex with the community, represented by the Residents’ Association. According to Unisul’s assistant sports coordinator, Jerson Cunha, through this partnership Pedra Branca will be a model of community integration, in addition to a national benchmark in high performance sports.

A technological show. That is the best way to define the development of the Olympic-size swimming pool part of the Unisul Aquatic Complex. The goal of the equipment, built in compliance with international standards, is to guarantee that the site becomes a national benchmark in aquatic sports. In addition to preparing athletes in high performance modalities, the swimming pool will provide a form of social service, with the aim of discovering and preparing new Olympic talents. This will only be possible because the complex will be open to the community interested in practicing physical activities.
