AROMATHERAPY: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

In the past few months, millions of people had to spend more time at home, obligatorily. Homes that were often closed during the day are now the setting for all routine activities.

Kitchens became scenery for meetings, living rooms became the perfect space for study, the bedroom is now shared with the office, and the balconies and gardens have become the vanishing point and a small refuge from the four walls of the house.

With a fully adapted routine, many homes have also been though changes, be they physical or emotional. In addition to setting aside a space for the computer on the dining table, some people have been looking for alternative ways to make the home more peaceful, light and cozy to be in.

One of the bets to improve the rooms of a house is aromatherapy. Still little known in Brazil, this technique is nothing more than an ancient therapy, based on the use of essential oils or fragrances.

With the main objective of improving people’s physical and psychological well-being, aromatherapy can be considered a curative treatment. In some countries, this technique is used in medical treatments as an alternative medicine.

Learn the benefits of aromatherapy

The big secret is in essential oils, as they are extracts from flowers, leaves, stems and roots and, in this way, take all the nutrients and natural characteristics to the aromas. One of the ways to experience aromatherapy is to apply these oils directly to the skin, in relaxing massages, for example.

The choice of scent is what determines the benefits it can bring to you and your family. The mix of concentrated substances in each oil is individual and exclusive. Therefore, it is necessary to understand what the expected solutions are, search and select the ideal aroma for your problem.

Studied since the beginning of the 20th century, it is proven that aromatherapy can have a positive influence on several issues: decrease anxiety; giving more energy and vitality; reducing headaches; improve sleep quality; inflammation reduction; nausea and stomach discomfort; scarring; relaxation and; improving the mood.

How to use aromatherapy in your daily routine

Totally related to healing through the sense of smell, for aromatherapy to be used in homes, apartments and offices, the best option is by inhalation. Through a room diffuser, drops of essential oils are sprayed into the air and inhaled naturally by the people who are there. Just choose the best type of diffuser for your home and the place where you want to place it.

There are several diffuser options on the market. Among them are steam appliances integrated with humidifiers, bringing a higher quality to the air. The electronic diffuser is another very practical option, as it heats up when plugged into a socket and then evaporates the oils and sprays them in the air.

Reed diffusers have also gained strength in recent years. The candle diffuser is the oldest and most traditional, however, in recent years it has been replaced by more technological options.

In addition to bringing more quality to the air in your home or office, essential oils guarantee the health and well-being benefits for you and whoever else is in the room.

Tip: the ideal is to keep the diffuser in lower places and close to the ground so the spraying happens more effectively.

For each room, a new aroma

Essential oil diffusers can be placed in any room in your home. But, as previously mentioned, aromatherapy has specific objectives and benefits for each oil. So, follow some aroma tips for each room.

Bedroom: When you think of relaxing and a good night of sleep, lavender is the most voted aroma! Known as “all-around”, this essential oil is one of the easiest to find on the market. In addition to helping with sleep, it helps to deal with worries and anxiety.

Living room: For the room where you, family, friends and other guests are usually at your home, cinnamon essential oils are the favorites! In addition to the delicious smell, cinnamon has relaxing, cozy and, best of all, antibacterial properties!

Kitchen: Citronella is well known for its power to repel insects and keep rooms protected from possible contamination. Therefore, the use of citronella essential oil in kitchens is ideal. It can also be used as an aerial antiseptic. As the citronella aroma is strong, the tip is to mix some drops of lavender, bergamot, rosemary or orange oils.

Bathroom: Eucalyptus is one of the most suitable essential oils for bathrooms and toilets in homes and offices. That’s because this is an aroma with bactericidal and fungicidal substances.

Office: Lemongrass is a great bet for aromatherapy in rooms that require focus and material or content production. The substances in this oil stimulate inspiration and creativity, lead to relaxation and reduce stress.
