Cidade Pedra Branca has become an example that it is possible to live with quality, respecting nature. And it is very important that we teach our children to appreciate its beauty and preserve it.
We know that their development always accompanies common questions such as: “Where does the sun go?”, “Why does it shine?”, “Does the water never end?”. And even if you don’t know the answer, it is best to do a search and then share in the simplest way possible.
Always explain that some attitudes will bring immediate results and others will impact their future. Little by little, your children get to know even more where they live and feel that they are part of the community.
Thinking about the space where we live, we have separated 4 tips for you to start stimulating your child’s environmental awareness:
1. A very important tip is to teach, not to repress. If you notice that your children are doing something ecologically incorrect, show the right way. A scolding will not help them to be aware, explain calmly what they are doing wrong and show the right way. For example: if they throw some garbage on the street, ask them to collect it and put it in the right place, which is the trash can.
2. If you have a vegetable garden at home, allow your children to take care of small plants by themselves and watch what they do during this activity. Or, try the bean on cotton experiment. Observe for several days with them and talk about what is happening.
3. Explain how important water is and why baths should be shorter, for example. Start by recommending that they turn off the tap while soaping and use a glass of water when brushing their teeth.
4. And of course, take your kids to see your neighborhood, or new wooded places. Do more outdoor activities, such as picnicking and cycling. This way they can have different experiences and perceptions, developing their contact with the environment. It is important to emphasize that what is not known is neither loved nor protected.
